| Jeremy Nicholas in a celebration of the 150th anniversary of Jerome K. Jerome |
 |
| 2009 is the sesquicentenary of the birth of Jerome Klapka Jerome, author of one of the funniest books ever written. Three Men in a Boat, first published in 1889, has never been out of print and has been translated into nearly every language in the world (including Inuit and Pitman’s shorthand), dramatised many times, filmed at least four times and been turned into a musical. Jeremy Nicholas, whose performance in his own adaptation of Three Men in a Boat ran for four months in the West End, won him an Olivier Award nomination and was filmed for Channel 4, has devised a one-man entertainment which celebrates the life of Jerome and his work. As well as performing extracts from Three Men in a Boat, its sequel Three Men on the Bummel, Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow, On the Stage and Off and other Jerome works, Jeremy Nicholas tells the story of Jerome’s life with extracts from his autobiography, My Life and Times, and many newly-discovered details that have only recently come to light. Jeremy Nicholas is an accomplished and entertaining speaker as well as being an actor, award-winning broadcaster, prolific writer on classical music and the author of eight books. He is the President of the Jerome K. Jerome Society. |
